Ship Society — Full Position Table

The premise: this is a town in a tin can. Every role you'd find in a mid-size coastal port town exists here, scaled to the hull. Androids fill the jobs humans can't or shouldn't (vacuum, radiation, high-g, toxic). Humans hold the roles that require judgement, empathy, or legal personhood.

Captain / Master Human Ultimate authority; signs off on FTL jumps, cargo manifests, discipline
First Officer / Helm Human Runs the helm; relief for Captain
Ship's Council (3–5 seats) Human, elected by residents Mediates disputes between company officers and residents; approves rule changes
Ship's Advocate Human Legal counsel; represents residents in disputes with the company
Magistrate / Judge Human Single-judge bench; hears criminal and civil matters
Court Clerk Human / Android Records proceedings, manages evidence
Ship's Chronicler Human Logs the voyage, keeps the ship's history (the "town record")

Forensics / Evidence Tech Human / Android Processes crime scenes, secures evidence
Ship's Advocate (defense) Human Represents the accused before the Magistrate
Corrections Androids (×2) Android Non-lethal restraint, brig monitoring, cannot be in the courtroom

6. Medical

Position Who Notes
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Human Doctor; triages, performs surgery, signs FTL fitness-to-fly
Surgeon Human Trauma, FTL-injury surgery, hull-breach casualty care
Nurses (×4) Human / Android Androids handle vitals monitoring, IVs, vitals; humans do bedside
Paramedic / Emergency Response Human First to the scene on a hull breach or FTL mis-jump
Pharmacist Human / Android Dispenses meds; androids manage the stock
Counselor / Psychologist Human FTL claustrophobia, long-haul isolation, post-trauma

7. Community & Daily Life (the "town" layer)

Position Who Notes
School Principal Human Runs the school for residents' children
Teachers (×3–4) Human Ages 5–16; androids assist with homework and cleaning

Quick-Reference: Who Fills What

Filled by Humans Only Filled by Androids Only Shared (Human + Android)
Captain, Captain's staff, Magistrate, CMO, CMO, FTL Conductor, Spin Core Master, Counselor, Chaplain, Teachers, Principal, Galley Head, Ship's Advocate, Social Worker, Judges, Jailer, Combat Officer, Botanist EVA hull repair, Reactor core maintenance, Spin Core internal maintenance, FTL coil cryo, Hazmat cargo, Sanitation, Laundry, Reactor radiation zone, Android Caretaker, Reactor core Security patrol, Dock/Loading, Sorters, Nurses, Pharamcy, Galley line, Med-bay techs, Comms tech, HVAC, Lookout, Drone ops, Corrections

Total positions: ~85 distinct posts. A full complement is roughly 120–160 souls (human + android) for a medium-freighter making a 4–6 week FTL rotation with a 2-week turnaround. A "big" ship — the kind that carries a town's worth of cargo — could run 300+ with a full resident population, a school, a hospital ward, and a working court.

Want me to turn any of these into actual *_engine.gd stubs (e.g. a ship_crew_engine.gd that tracks crew assignments, a justice_engine.gd for the courtroom minigame, a cargo_engine.gd for the manifest/stowage system)?
